One hour extra!

We often complain that we don’t have enough time. Our busy schedules leave us with no time to do the things we like. But there’s a simple way of getting some extra time in the day. Wake up an hour early then your usual time and you will get an extra one hour in a day. Let’s suppose, you wake up at 7 am every day. Simply by waking up at 6 am instead of 7 am, you will get an extra hour a day.

Get an extra hour a day by waking up early which you would have otherwise used in sleeping. This extra hour can be utilized in a number of ways. You can use this extra one hour for doing something meaningful & purposeful.

You can use this extra one hour to:

  • Go for a morning walk.
  • Doing yoga or workout.
  • Read a book.
  • Write in your journal.
  • Meditate.
  • Write your to-do list.
  • Savoring your morning coffee or tea.
  • Pray.
  • Write your affirmations for the day.
  • Complete some pending household chore.
  • Draw or paint.

The list can be endless. There is so much you can do with this extra one hour. So much can be accomplished in an extra one hour. Don’t you agree?

We keep complaining about the lack of time to do the things love. Just think about it! You can use this extra one hour to do something important or meaningful which can impact your life in a profound way.

  • You can be more fit and healthy.
  • You can learn a new skill.
  • You can be more organized.
  • You can take an online course.
  • You can do something to earn extra income.

Getting up just an hour early is not a difficult task. One hour doesn’t even seem like much. But by judiciously using this time, so much could be accomplished in this extra hour. It’s very easy to complain and make excuses for not having enough time, but it’s in your hands to make time in your busy day.

Just one extra hour a day can change your whole life!

  1. Getting up early is a good habit. However, I know people who work till 2 a.m. or get up at 3 a.m. to work – especially IT engineers trying to keep up with new technology developments This leads to steep deprivation. and health problems. Better than that is to organise your day.The blurb of Laura Vanderkam’s book ‘168 Hours’ (mentioned by my post on New Year resolutions) is “You have more time than you think”. The author says “there is time for anything that matters”. Her website http://www.my168hours.com helps people rearrange their time allotment to realise their dreams and aspirations

    1. Of course, time management is the key. There is plenty of time for the things we want to pursue provided we know how to manage time. For me, waking up early has always been a priority because it gives me ample time for meditation and spiritual practices.

  2. So true.. it’s all up to us how we can utilize out time..and I have been thinking of getting that extra one hour..but big problem.. lazy me.. hahaha.. but yes I have started giving a try ??

  3. One hour adds a lot when you pile it up over a week or month or year! I already get up at 4:30 every day, but then I go to bed at 9:00, so the day’s a bit shorter on the other end ?

  4. I believe prioritizing our day, our hours is vital if we want to reach our goals, our desires! But our sleep is sooo important too! Our body needs to regenerate, and replenish!! We need to find balance, easier said than done, but priorities are the key I think!

    1. Waking up early and prioritizing tasks both are essential for time management. Our body needs 7-8 hours of sleep for proper functioning but some people sleep way beyond that.

  5. Yes,You are right mam .It’s a interesting and helpful post .Thanks for sharing .Time Management is essential but it seems like a art to me (Art of Living) where I fail many times in implementing it.
