One step that changed my life forever

uvoir

We do the same things over and over again.

Going through the motions, doing the same mundane tasks, following the same monotonous routine.

But sometimes, all it takes is just one step in a new direction that could change your life forever!

Almost ten years back, I had a chance meeting with an Art of Living teacher and a week later, I was sitting in his session wondering what I was doing there. After all, isn’t meditation and spirituality meant for the elderly or unhappy people? Little did I know that the next six days are going to be life transforming! The bliss, the peace, the joy – I never knew one could be happy without a reason. I discovered the immense benefits of meditation & Sudarshan kriya.

One step led to another and the journey continued. Now I’m an Art of Living teacher myself working towards my Master’s goal of a violence free, stress free society. I have met so many amazing people in this journey. Everyone has their own tales of devotion and miracles. I never believed in miracles before I met my master H. H. Sri Sri Ravishankar ji. Now every day I experience his grace and life is nothing but a celebration.

It’s so easy to be happy yet we complicate our lives and keep on postponing our happiness for future. All we need to learn is that happiness is right here, right now in the present moment. Happiness doesn’t lie in money and big things but in the simple precious moments that life has to offer.

That one step taught me to live in the present moment, to live in gratitude and that has made all the difference!

Another turning point for me was when I went to Iskcon temple for the first time. I was going through some turbulent times and was in a chaotic state of mind. Looking at the deities of Sri Sri Radha Madhav in the temple filled me with immense peace and I started going there frequently. It was then and there I learnt the true meaning of devotion and faith. When you surrender totally to the divine then all your worries come to an end because you know that He will do what’s best for you.

It’s easy to follow the same routine, same patterns, same habits. But that will only lead to stagnation.

Or you could take a new step, charter unknown territories, start new endeavours and let life unravel its mysteries in front of you.

What was the life-transforming step for you? Share yours below.

  1. Experiencing the peace and tranquility by means of spiritual experience is path breaking in one’s life. I found that it doesn’t matter how one chooses the path but everything leads to him, the almighty.
