Right tools make all the difference!

Right tools definitely make a lot of difference. Sketching is my recent hobby. I am still a novice artist who is trying to perfect the art by self teaching through internet and practicing daily. And of course, there are hits and misses on the way. But that is the part of the journey as mistakes are definitely the best teachers.

I drew this sketch of Lord Hanuman some days back. I used pencil colors for the drawing but I made the blunder of using a permanent marker for the outline. The tip was thick and I realized the mistake as soon as I started drawing the outline. It was difficult to outline the finer details like eyes and other facial features. Moreover I felt that the ink could bleed leading to smudging the whole drawing. Thankfully that didn’t happen but the drawing didn’t come out as well as I had wanted it to be.

This led me to search for some good pens for outlining the sketches. I settled for Sakura micron pens after reading so many good reviews and ordered it online. The set of pens arrived last evening. It had six pens with different nib sizes for precise line width- 0.20 mm, 0.25 mm, 0.30 mm, 0.35 mm, 0.45 mm and 0.50 mm.

Today I made my first sketch using Sakura micro pens. Since I am new to sketching, I first drew the rough sketch with pencil instead of free hand drawing with pens. The pens are a delight to use and the best part is that they are waterproof and cause no smears or bleedthrough on paper. They are definitely value for money and I am absolutely in love with them. Here is the sketch of Lord Rama that I made:
