The way to God

Each person you meet is Jesus in disguise. – Mother Teresa

Peace, happiness, love- this is what I seek and I have found that I am happiest when I am closer to God. The days when I was doing sandhyavandanam were so blissful. Every day when I go to ISKCON temple, I am filled with so much peace. I just want to keep sitting there and keep looking at the deities of Sri Sri Radha Madhav. At that moment, I feel that this is where I need to be- close to God, close to fellow human beings, with feelings of love for all and without any bitterness or hatred towards anyone. But this is not as easy as it seems. Being a human being, we are prone to all the vices. We get angry, we hate, we become jealous, we become restless and that’s why we need to come back to the source again and again.

Praying, meditating, chanting, going to the religious places- these are all different ways to connect to the God. Regular spiritual practices keep us on the path and do not let us go astray. When we feel lost and all alone, God is the only one who will still be there for us. For years, I had been away from God. I had been angry and in my anger, I turned my back towards God. But God was kind enough to never abandon me. He was kind enough to send my spiritual master in my life. I am thankful to my spiritual master H.H. Sri Sri Ravishankar ji who guided me and brought me back to where I belonged- Back to God.

The people who are close to God see his divinity in each and everyone. They are kind and compassionate & are ready to help everyone. No religion in this world preaches hatred. Every religion teaches us to love others as we are all children of the same God. Still people fail to understand the real teachings of the religion and keep fighting in the name of religion. Only if we realize that the real worship of God is the love of mankind and service to the fellow beings then this world will be such a better place to live in. Kindness and compassion are the best tools to worship God. Keep praying, keep doing service and keep loving. Chant the Holy Names of the Lord and be happy.

  1. I’m sad to say that that’s not really the way to God. Yes, God is love, and yes, we should learn to love others and work with them in peace. But that all comes after we accept Christ as our savior and realize that we are sinful and evil. We cannot be close to God without Jesus. We’re not worthy.
On another note, yes! Help the hurting and the sick and the poor! They are like Jesus (“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’)

    1. Christ or Krishna or Allah… People call Him by different names but He is one..The Supreme Personality of Godhead. Surrendering to Him means accepting everyone as we all are His creation.

        1. I believe in Krsna, just as you believe in Christ and some other may believe in Allah. It’s all about beliefs. We believe in the religion we belong to and the values we are raised with. No religion preaches hatred but the teachings are misinterpreted by the fanatics.

          1. Hey Doron, when I use the word Authority, it does not mean Power, it means Knowledge. “This Man” famously known as Paramhansa Yogandnda was a Spiritual master who traveled West and put his efforts in merging East with West through Self Realisation. As per his Religious Doctrine, all religious scriptures preach the same. He had studies all Religious scriptures and had mastery on them.

        2. Doran, Those who are deciphering Islam the way you have written are bunch of Radical Islamic forces who are grossly misguided. As per my Guru Sri Paramhansa Yogananda, who had supreme authority on all religious scriptures including Quran, he clarifies with conviction that all religion have a common goal, peace, co-existence, respect, love and the ultimate goal is to realise the God

  2. As it has been said in the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, God lives in every soul, so, to love humankind is the best way to love God. Every religion teaches the same…still people are making this planet a worse one with each passing day in the name of religion.

    Nice article, Shaloo…

    1. Thank you! Those who fight in the name of religion haven’t gone through their scriptures or else they would have understood that love for mankind is the essence of all religions.
