Book Review: The Girl Who Knew Too Much

Author Vikrant Khanna| Genre Fiction | Originally Published April 1st, 2017 | Publisher India Penguin | Page Count 224

The Girl Who Knew Too Much is a work of paranormal fiction by Indian author Vikrant Khanna. It is the story of thirteen years old Akshara who is trying to cope with the loss of her mother. She meets Harry at the neighbourhood park who tries to console her by telling his one-sided love story for he is sure that Akshara will be benefited from the story.

Harry’s story is about his love at first sight with Sahiba. But fate has another plans as Sahiba falls in love with Siddharth. Out of jealousy, Harry hits Siddharth with his car which leaves him seriously injured. Karma takes revenge as a few days later, Harry dies a painful death when his car catches fire mysteriously. Sahiba and Siddharth continue to be in love for years and are all set to tie the knot when tragedy strikes. Siddharth is killed in a car accident. Sahiba is overcome with grief but believes that Siddharth will come back to her.

The story moves slowly at times but the sudden twists in the plot keep you glued to the book. What I liked most about the book is its message- the importance of doing acts of kindness. For this reason alone, I recommend this book to the readers. It will enlighten you about true love and how love has the capacity to change you into a better person.

The cover of the book is very aesthetic and appealing but at the same time, misleading too. The intriguing title and the dreamy book cover will make you want to buy the book. The plot is unique and holds a bit of suspense too. The language is simple. The story is filled with emotions and tragedy. On the whole, an interesting read which you will enjoy!
