Allah never distinguishes between His people. Her friends’ warnings fell on deaf ears. Her family came to know one day and all hell broke loose. Beaten mercilessly and threatened with dire consequences, she was imprisoned in her own house. After a week, she was able to escape with the help of the house maid. She was on her way to his house dreaming of the happy future. Application for marriage was already filed in the court a month back. As she stepped down from the cab, she was surprised to see a crowd in front of his house. Honour killing had claimed another life.

Very unfortunate
Yeah!
Tragic, yet all so very true unfortunately. Honor killing claims a lot of innocent lives in our country and shows no signs of dwindling.
It’s indeed tragic that Indian society is still ruled by the divisions on the basis of religion, caste and creed.
That’s true. If we could get rid of these menial differences, half of India’s problems would go away.
May be someday…let’s hope for the best!

As a book lover you should read ‘AAVARANA’ translation of a Kannada novel by S. L. Bhyrappa (Rupa Books) which is also about an inter-faith marriage — good in theory, but beset with practical problems.

Never ending pain of honour killing in our place
Honour killing has no place in a civilized society. It’s a shame that India still faces this grave problem.
