Almost three years back, I went to the local ISKCON temple for the first time. I was going through a very low phase. I felt so calm and uplifted as I stood inside the temple hall in front of the deities of Sri Sri Radha Madhav. I have been a regular at the temple ever since. I started attending the classes & discourses at the temple. Reading Srila Prabhupada’s books gave a new perspective to love and devotion towards God. With each passing day, my devotion for the Lord grows stronger. This poem describes that first experience with Krishna– the day I walked into the temple not knowing that it would change my life forever.
Endless days I have spent in longing
Trying to cultivate belief and belonging
Led by an impulse as if guided by the divine
I walk into the temple and sit by the shrine.
Here you are, so enchanting, so attractive
With an endearing smile, you hold me captive.
Offering me solace, you give me shelter
And in the shackles of love you bind me forever.
Your grandeur, your beauty leaves me spellbound
Something in me changes and my world turns around
Filling my soul with a new, strange emotion
You show me the path of love and devotion.
Immortal light illuminates though I appear the same
Within me has kindled the conscious flame
Offering myself to you, no more moments to be wasted
And I drift to a space so transcendental, so sacred.

Thanks!
Lovely sketch of Little Krishna. Liked the usage of ‘Conscious flame’. Nicely penned! ?
Thank you!
