Kindness is my religion

“My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.”

Dalai Lama XIV

The above quote is the inspiration behind this poem. Only if we learn to be kind and compassionate towards everyone (not just humans but all living creatures, be it animals or plants), we will be able to make significant progress in our spiritual journey.

An ordinary soul seeking answers,

Questioning the creation and the creator,

Analyzing the purpose of this mortal existence,

A sincere seeker in the pursuit of truth.

Where have I come from, where I have to go

And while I am here, will the mystery reveal?

Striving for perfection, searching for answers

Following the Master, walking the path

Being more humble than a blade of grass

And more tolerant than a tree.

Amidst meditations, diving deep into silence

While chanting or the prayers

A tiny voice whispers a simple advice

“If nothing else, be kind.”

    1. Thank you! If only more and more people uphold the values of love and kindness, the world would be a much better place.
