An Ode To The Master

It was in the year 2008 when I did Art of Living Happiness Program. Back then, it was called the basic course. I had no idea about spirituality and went to the course just out of curiousity. At the end of first session, the teacher conducting the program led us to a meditation in Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar’s voice. As I listened to the instructions with my eyes closed, some sort of connection was formed with the sweet, gentle voice. I couldn’t figure out what it was but something was pulling me to this smiling, enigmatic person whose framed picture was placed in the centre of the stage. I saw this face many times during meditation in coming days…gently smiling and calling out. I called my teacher and described this strange thing that was happening to me since the program. He laughed and told me to enjoy the experience till it lasts. After that, I did numerous courses that Art of Living Foundation offers and eventually myself became an Art of Living Teacher in Dec 2009. Gurudev has brought about a major transformation in me. Most importantly, he led me closer to the divine. 

Here I am my sharing with you a poem that I wrote a few years back. This was the first poem that I ever wrote and it expressed my feelings for my spiritual master. It is rightly said that in the presence of the master, you discover your hidden talents – which you possibly didn’t know existed.

The poem was later published in ‘Rishimukh’- Art of Living’s international magazine. It was illustrated so beautifully with a picture of Gurudev in the background. This was my first published piece of work. The joy of seeing the poem in print was indeed unparalleled. Here is the scanned version of the poem as it appeared in print:
